First SuperDrive unit arrives at Lafarge's Whisby quarry
Following the demonstration of the new Canning SuperDrive™ jib head unit at the recent Canning Conveyor open week. Lafarge placed an order for the jib head unit, a 9m loop take-up unit and the grading section as demonstrated at the open week.
Now fully operational the new 75kw double drum SuperDrive™ and grading section forms part of an extension to an existing conveyor at Whisby Quarry. This existing conveyor is currently 350 metres long, but there are plans to extend this to 700 metres in spring 2006 and the new 'SuperDrive™' will fully cater for this future extension.
The initial drive was manufactured with rubber diamond lagged drive drums, but all future standard SuperDrive™ units will have ceramic lagged drive drums.
In addition Lafarge ordered (425) – 750mm Canning heavy duty polymer suspended sets with polymer handles, (300) – 750mm heavy duty polymer return rollers and 1260 metres of new Cannoflex 750mm EP500/3, 5+1.5 conveyor belt.
Richard Allott – Quarry Manager commented "I was initially looking at new and second hand conventional drives, but when I'd seen the SuperDrive™ in operation I was impressed with the set up, smoothness and how quiet it operated at. What swung it for me though, was the competitive price and the warranty deal. I'm very pleased with the SuperDrive™ and would certainly recommend to anybody in the extractive industries and I'm sure that it will give long and successful service here at Whisby".
This new SuperDrive™ unit comes with a three year warranty and once installed it is – "Fit it and Forget it".
