What is shot blasting?
Shot Blasting is a process used to prepare the component surface prior to coating or application of overlays. The method includes directing at a high speed spherical blasting media, through compressed air, against the component surface to clean, remove corrosion, mill scale, paint or rust, achieve a smooth finish, polish and strengthen (Peening) the metal. Blasting results can be manipulated by length of exposure to blasting, when in a tumbler, or adjustment of pressure, nozzle size and nozzle distance when in a cabinet or Shot Blasting room.
