New conveyor system for Imerys
Canning Conveyor has recently supplied new conveying equipment for a new system at Imerys Minerals – Parkandillick Buell site.
Imerys Tiles Minerals is part of Imerys, a world leader in adding value to minerals. The company is dedicated to innovation and services in raw materials for tiles worldwide.
At the Parkandillick Buell site Canning has supplied a total of four new conveyors, a belt feeder/hopper and completed two modifications to existing conveyors for different applications within the new system.
Canning initially modified and extended an existing 900mm wide troughed belt conveyor by 1.5 metres at the head and 3.6 metres at the tail. Both head and tail ends were also switched to enable the feed direction to be reversed. This existing conveyor was fitted with 35 metres of new belt, idlers, and primary and secondary belt scrapers.
Designed to accept up to 65 tph of wet clay from the modified conveyor a new 800mm x 32.5 metre long conveyor was supplied with an elevation of 18°, allowing discharge into a paddle mixer. This conveyor was fitted with a single idler belt weigher, box magnet, metal detector and an intermediate loading section.
A second conveyor 800mm wide x 8 metre long designed to accept 65 tph of wet clay from the palletizer was supplied with an elevation of 14° allowing it to discharge into a Ventilex dryer via a feed chute. This conveyor was fitted with a single idler belt weigher and appropriate mountings for a moisture meter.
A further conveyor, 800mm wide x 14 metre long designed to accept up to 60 tph of clay from the Ventilex dryer was supplied with an elevation to enable discharge onto the existing modified conveyor. This third conveyor was also fitted with a single idler belt weigher, metal detector, and mountings for a moisture meter. An automatic plough with a two way chute incorporating a flap door operated by a pneumatic ram was also supplied with a two way discharge chute incorporating a flap door.
Material from this discharge chute was then fed onto the fourth new 600mm wide x 32 metre long conveyor which was designed to accept up to 30 tph of wet clay. This conveyor was also elevated to discharge into a new dry feed bin.
As well as a second modification to an existing 550mm wide conveyor, Canning completed the project by supplying a new 800mm wide x 2.25 metre long flat bed belt feeder which was located under the feedback bin. Designed to deliver from 4 to 30 tph of clay to the paddlemixer feed conveyor, this belt feeder was fitted to the underside of a stainless steel dry feed bin with a minimum capacity of 4 cubic metres.
All installation, belt fitting, site vulcanizing and commissioning was completed by Canning engineers.
